Good article. Having recently joined Medium, I find it’s a balance between Marketing and Writing.

Self publication gives you more freedom with writing, but as a new writer it’s hard to get eyeballs on self published articles.

Thus I find myself pitching and marketing my articles (and myself) a lot more than I would have liked. Hopefully this changes.

And agree about Human Parts- love their stories.
