I woke up to my partner crying.
She had heard the news of the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. But, amongst the somewhat regular occurrence of shootings in the United States, this one hit home harder for her.
She grew up in San Antonio and regularly traveled to Uvalde for sports tournaments.
As I got on my phone and read the news reports, I asked myself the same question that I always ask.
Why does this keep happening? There is a perfect solution available — it has been done before in my home country of Australia.
Why can’t they do the same in the United States?
