The ads are certainly memorable but in the case you mention above — and the Hyundai ad, showing suicide attempts in advertising actually leads to more people attempting suicide.

The fact that a cough drop company would show you that its product assists suicide is beyond belief!

I have tried to find the commercial you mention and interestingly when I googled Ecuador cough drop suicide there are a lot of articles mentioning those words (not all with Ecuador) so some people do try this, unfortunately.
