Who will win the battle of business versus politics?

Thank you for inviting me to this Summit. I am delighted to have this opportunity to learn, discuss, and exchange ideas together with you.

With those opening words, Jack Ma’s fortune was changed.

How many of us have said words we would later regret? Maybe in anger to a friend or family member? Perhaps something to a work colleague? Whatever the words, I am sure it hasn’t cost you billions of dollars and lead to conspiracy theories across the internet asking where you have disappeared to.

But none of you are Jack Ma.

The man with 15,000 matches knows how to build a brand

Most Swiped Man on Tinder.

There are a few titles I’d like. World’s Richest Entrepreneur. Funniest Person on Earth. Most Viewed Article on the Internet. Now I had a new one to add to the list of titles I would never achieve (hmm, maybe that’s a new one to aspire to, Most Titles Missed Out On).

The Most Swiped Man on Tinder.

I had to find out more about this guy. Who was he? How did he win the title of ‘most swiped’ and most importantly, what could I learn from him? …

#3: Inviting people to scam the CEO

Before the public sees an advertisement, it goes through several levels. Usually, there is an advertising agency that presents ideas and concepts. These get approved by various marketing leaders or senior management of the brand. There are plenty of options for quality control and to sense check any campaign before it goes live.

Yet still, some of the most idiotic advertisements make it into the public domain — brands both big and small.

Today, we look at nine of the worst advertisements of all time. As there are so many failed ads for us to shake our heads at, this…

A guide to a more fulfilling life, according to Matthieu Ricard.

Matthieu Ricard has been called the world’s happiest person.

This isn't an award given out based on votes on a reality TV show, or to the influencer who gets the most likes on a social media post. This title was awarded to Ricard based on a twelve-year brain study on meditation and compassion led by a neuroscientist from the University of Wisconsin, Richard Davidson.

His skull was linked up to 256 sensors and scans showed that when Ricard was meditating on compassion, his brain produced a level of gamma waves — those linked to consciousness, attention, learning, and memory —…

What prompts an unsolicited image of a penis?

I received a notification email — you have received a new comment on your article.

As a writer, I love getting comments from readers. Sharing their opinion with me, hopefully stroking my ego and saying they were entertained or that I’m the best writer they’ve ever come across — hey, I can live in hope.

Occasionally there are comments disagreeing with my views — which is fine — it would be boring if everyone thought exactly the same as I do.

Every so often, a troll comes along with a comment that adds nothing but is just abusive. …

To be a billionaire, you need to shop like a billionaire

Who wants to be a billionaire?

Put your hand down, Bezos — you are already one. I mean, who wants to be a billionaire that isn't already one?

Well, you could go back to 2007 in a magic Delorean and buy a lot of Bitcoin. You could come up with the latest app that takes the world by storm. You could even try to win the lottery a few times.

Perhaps you could think like a billionaire.

Maybe the trick to billions of dollars, happiness, and success is doing what the billionaires do. …

Forget the ‘Lonely Planet’ guidebook — with this list; you won’t need to be alone

The video was mesmerizing. I watched it several times. It was bizarre. It oddly was sort of sexual. It made me laugh.

It was Air Sex.

We have all played air guitar before. A great song comes on, and we mimic the actions of the lead guitarist and throw our arms around wildly, unleashing our inner rock star. But until the great day I found an Air Sex video, I had never heard of this delightful activity.

I was even more excited when I found that there was a world competition — the Air Sex Championships.

I had to put…

And 3 lessons for fellow hustlers to take to do the same

I did it.

I let out a large scream in triumph and started jumping around the room as if I’d just won an award. I actually felt like giving an acceptance speech.

I want to thank my parents, my partner, my dog, and most of all, my fellow writers. For without them, I could never have done this. I dedicate this award to my fellow hustlers, creators, entrepreneurs, and freelancers. This is for you.

It took 12 months, but my ‘side hustle’ finally earned me enough to delete the word side. I should probably delete the word hustle as well.

You can rage against the machine — or just write differently

A robot looking up.
A robot looking up.

I got a message from my mother-in-law, Liz, last week. It said she had ordered me a book that could help me with my future.

I was excited and intrigued. What worldly advice had Liz seen that would benefit me. Two days later, the book arrived — Futureproof: 9 Rules for Humans in the Age of Automation by Kevin Roose. Liz bought it for me as she thought all writers needed to take stock. Or perhaps she was (not so) subtly suggesting that the end is nigh for writers and to look at an alternative career.

A look into beauty pageants with a difference

Will your package make the pedestal?

It was one of the most unusual competition taglines I had seen. Radio stations often compete for the craziest and most outrageous promotional stunts to try and generate publicity. This week, in Australia, the Kyle and Jackie O show launched the most beautiful penis pageant.

OK, the stunt worked as I delved deeper to see the ahem mechanics of the competition.

The first phase is to describe your penis in 25 words or less and tell the judges why it’s beautiful. …
